About School
Our present can be traced back to 1920 when Lala Raghubir Singh at
No.24 Daryaganj Delhi, founded the first Modern School. At a time when
education was considered to be the privilege of only the rich, Lala ji
envisioned a school that would provide exceptional educational
opportunities to all students irrespective of caste, creed and social
status.The school provides best possible environment to its students
so that each student is able to realize his goals to the maximum of
his or her potential.
School Campus
As soon as one enters the school gates there is the
unfailing welcome from the beautiful flower beds behind the greens
that have been planted at various spots, there has been strategic
planning of lanes, to save the lush greens from the careless romp of
children's feet.
The ambience of the red bricked wall against the lush green
surroundings is both attractive and peaceful. The wide and inviting
corridors, the open spaces, the alcoves and nooks give the building an
intimacy and warmth. All classrooms are built to allow lot of natural
light. A separate space for discussion and teacher cubicles flank the
floors and make it a composite school for learning.
The special features of the building are the separation of each
classroom from the corridor, large playing areas and the provision of
terraces on the two floors so that the children do not feel
claustrophobic. The most recent addition to the school is a Psychology
laboratory, Mathematics laboratory and the Robotics laboratory.
Affiliation
Indian art, culture, music, dance, languages, yoga and computer are a part of curriculum. 10 years of general education is followed by 2 years of preparation leading to engineering, medicine and higher learning. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.
Admission
Class I - Class IX : Application can be
submitted from the month of December - Mid March. The students also
have to take an Entrance test, which is held in the first week of
April. The admissions are based on availability of seats. No
admissions are done during the session.
Class XI : Admissions are held only after the CBSE board
results of class 10th are declared. Forms are available only after the
Board results.
Nursery Class : Application for registration for admission to
Nursery Class in Modern School, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi & RS Junior
Modern School, Humayun Road , New Delhi
Photocopy of the birth certificate to be submitted by the parents at
the time of collection of form.
Extra Curricular Activities
Stamp collecting, speech and dramatics, carpentry, tailoring, embroidery, soft toy making, electronics, paper work, gardening, typing, cookery, journalism, music, dance, batik, tie & dye, painting and leather work are some of the activities. Tours and treks are compulsory for all students of Class VI and above.
Sports Activities
Hockey, cricket, athletics, football, basketball, swimming, tennis, table tennis and gymnastics are the main school games. Facilities also exist for volleyball, cross country, badminton and squash.
