About School

The history of Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls’ Public School, Jaipur begins from August 12, 1943. Her Highness Maharani Gayatri Deviji felt the need for a school specially for the girls where they could get all round education and at the same time maintain Indian culture. M.G.D. has come to occupy a place in the front rank of public schools in the country- the first Girls’ Public School to be accepted as member of I.P.S.C. in 1950. It has acquired international repute by attracting students from overseas as well. One of the finest features is that it is open to the girls of all classes without distinction of race, class or social status. The institution has developed all round, steadily widening its educational base and values. Intellectual, physical, social and emotional aspects of the students are well taken care of in order to develop their all round personality.

School Campus

The 26 acres campus contains beautiful large buildings, gardens, lawns, sports fields and swimming pool. There are six Houses in each of which is a special age group. The Prep and Anand House for the Tiny Tots. The Lilian Hurst and the Ashyana House for the upper Juniors, the Gitanjali, the Deepshikha and the Indira Bhawan Houses for the Seniors. Each House has its own House Mistress, Matron and Maid servants.

Affiliation

Students are prepared for S.S.C (Secondary Certificate Examination) of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Pune Divisional Board, now known as the Mumbai Divisional Board. Both English and Gujarati medium streams are provided.

Admission

The minimum age for admission to class 1 is 6 as on 31st March. All candidates seeking admission have to take the School Entrance Test and appear for personal interview along with their parents. The entrance test will consist of three subjects - English, Hindi & Mathematics. If after being called for the test for admission, a girl does not present herself on the appointed date, the registration will lapse & the registration fee will be forfeited by the school.
(f) Candidates who do not qualify in the Entrance test or interview will not be considered for admission.

Extra Curricular Activities

List of activities conducted at the school include Music, Dramatics, Dance, Red cross, Social work, Girls guild, yoga, skating, gymnasium. Other activities include – SUPW, Dramatics, Ballets, IPSC festivals, Rotract club, and cultural festivities from time to time.

Sports Activities

The school has extensive playgrounds and courts for various sporting disciplines and activities. Facilities include cricket, hockey, basketball, handball, athletics, soccer. In addition the school has a nice swimming pool with a trained lady coach for the girls.

There are 2 state of the art synthetic tennis courts along with a practice court with a trained coach. Facilities also exist like gymnastics, yoga, taekwondo and skating with trained coaches.
