About School

The Darul-Uloom Trust was created in 1920 by Mr. Hooseinboy Laljee and several eminent persons in order to build a school on the model of Harrow and Eton. The Darul-Uloom Muslim High School was started in 1920 in Panchgani, in the bungalow of the Nawab of Wai, with 30 students on the roll. The Trust bought an estate of over 165 acres on the Panchgani Mahableshwar Road and the school was shifted there in 1922. In May 1958, the Darul-Uloom Trust was transferred to the Anjuman-I-Islam, Bombay, a registered organization that manages a number of charities, orphanages and educational institutions. The Anjuman-I-Islam Public School started with four students. It has grown into an international school for boys with 350 students on the roll.


School Campus

The School campus is located along the Panchgani-Mahableshwar road on the southern slope of the Lingra Hills. Panchgani is situated at the height of 4300 feet and has an excellent healthy climate throughout the year. The school campus draws its water from a natural spring, known for its purity and mineral properties. The estate of 165 acres consists of a main building with seven dormitories, dispensary, modern dining hall, kitchen, auditorium, science laboratory, gymnasium, skating ring, horse riding club, Akbar Peerbhoy stadium, a prayer hall and the Principal’s office. There are staff quarters, separate Primary and Secondary Schools with a well equipped science laboratory, library, art room and reading room. The large playgrounds and full size athletics track are distinctive features of the school.


Affiliation

The school is affiliated with the Board of Secondary Education, Pune, Maharashtra and prepares its pupils for the Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSC) conducted by the Board. It has classes from I to X and follows the syllabus laid down by the Government. The school is also a member of the Indian Public School’s Conference.


Admission

Admission is open to children between the ages of five and twelve years only. Boys are admitted on the basis of priority of registration and qualifying entrance test.


Extra Curricular Activities

The Societies that function in the school are Audio-Visual, Gardening, Dramatics, History, Arts, Crafts, Current Affairs, Sports Forum and Hobby Clubs. The Scouting Troop organizes hikes and social service work. The school has an active music Band which plays on special occasions.


Sports Activities

Facilities are provided for coaching boys in cricket, football, hockey, volley ball, basket ball and athletics. Apart from regular games and sports, PT., gymnastics, malkhamb and yoga are taught.
