NEED Entrance Exam for GDPD Courses at NID 2009
About NEED
NEED is conducted by the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. The objective of NEED is to measure the candidate’s aptitude for the field of design involving general mental ability, worldview, sensitivity to environment, creativity, drawing and communication skills.
NID NEED 2009 Eligibility
Admission is open to students who have passed or who will appear for qualifying examinations under the Higher Secondary (10+2), or equivalents like AISSCE/ IB/ ICSE etc.
Competence in technical and related subjects will normally be considered an advantage. Upper age limit for candidates is 20 years (relaxable by 3 years for reserved categories) as on June 1, 2009.

NID NEED Application Process
Application forms along with the prospectus for the ensuing academic year will be made available on request from the second week of October on payment of Rs.1500/- (Rs.750/- for reserved categories) by a Demand Draft of any nationalised bank drawn in favour of the ‘National Institute of Design’ payable at Ahmedabad.
Forms downloaded from NID’s website along with required amount of DD drawn in favour of National Institute of Design payable at Ahmedabad will also be accepted.
Forms can also be obtained from select branches of Bank of India (listed below) on payment of Rs 1500/- towards the cost of the form plus Rs 30/- as bank charges. (Forms at concessional rates to reserved categories are available only from NID, Ahmedabad.)

Admission Procedure
For candidates applying for NID : Based on NEED score candidates will be short listed and called directly for next phase of admission — studio tests and personal interviews — for final selection. Candidates need not apply to NID again for the second and third stages.
For candidates applying to consortium partner institutes : Based on the NEED scores candidates have to apply separately to each consortium partner institute for admission and may have to fulfill its specific requirements for admission in the next phase.
