Interest in people of all backgrounds, creativity, flair, tact, a methodical approach, organising and administrative ability, a certain amount of manual dexterity and visual imagination, physical stamina and good health to withstand irregular hours of work are equally important traits.

A fresher will normally start in one of the various parts of a hotel such as Front Office, Kitchens, Marketing, Food & Beverages, Catering, etc. Alternatively, he can explore other service industries such as Airlines, Tourism, Banking, Call Centres, etc. Pay packets can be low in the beginning but tend to increase at a fast pace for a good performer.
